Preface

The Trade Analysis and Development Agency (TREDA) of the Ministry of Trade is responsible for trade analysis and developing trade policies. The agency undertakes research in various area of domestic and international trade which are then used as evidence for formulating and developing policies at the Ministry of Trade. TREDA in collaboration with Australia-Indonesia Partnership Economic Governance, Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia, University of Indonesia, The Indonesian Society of Agricultural Economics, Indonesian Institute of Science organized the first International Conference on Trade and Call for Paper with the theme “A New Paradigm in Trade Governance to Increase Domestic Efficiency and to Strengthen Global Competitiveness”. The conference attempts to capture the frontier of knowledge in trade governance and economic globalization. The conference is expected to invite submissions from the best researchers in these areas which will be used by policy makers as inputs in the development of Indonesia future trade and industrial governance. The purpose of this conference are (1) To share the latest researches and ideas in four sub-themes: national logistic strategy to increase economic efficiency; ICT strategy to increase competitiveness; strategy for greater integration into the Global Value Chain (GVC), with a focus on SMEs participation in GVC; international cooperation strategy to augment market access; and (2) To build networks between policy makers, researchers, academia, business practitioners with interest in trade and trade policy issues in Indonesia's trade sector. The conference selected 81 abstracts submission from many relevant institutions including Ministry, university, research institution and professional association. The Scientific Committee accepted 60 full papers, and only 43 papers presented and published in the proceeding conference. We wish to acknowledge and thank the many people who generously volunteered their time in preparation for this conference to ensure a high-quality program, including all the scientific committee from Indonesia, Singapore, Australia, Thailand, and Philippine.
